Waxing Poetic: Introduction to Encaustic & Collage
1 day - Beginner to Advanced

Learn encaustic fundamentals, building depth, texture, and three-dimensionality in paintings that shine with magical luminosity. Explore collage, colouring, carving, layering, and texturing your encaustic surface with a variety of pigmented oil, wax, and pastel treatments.

Hot Shots: Encaustic Photography +Phototransfer
1 day - Beginner to Advanced

Integrate photos into the milky depths of encaustic wax. We will use inkjet and Laser Jet images printed on paper, as well as photo-transfer techniques to add evocative imagery to your encaustic paintings. Students are encouraged to bring personal photos and photocopies for use in class.

Illuminated: Encaustic Paper Arts & Monoprinting
1 day - Beginner to Advanced

Explore the translucent beauty of wax-saturated rice papers. Learn to create one-of-a-kind prints using molten coloured waxes and oils on hot and cold printing plates. Use your papers to make a handmade encaustic book, monoprint paintings, lantern, scroll, or luminescent hanging.

Learn the enthralling art of painting with sweet-smelling molten beeswax. Discover the translucent, natural beauty and luminosity of encaustic and its applications to painting, sculpture, mixed media, photography, collage, assemblage, fibre arts, monoprinting, and more.
Workshops welcome students of all levels – from Beginners to Advanced.

Shary delights in the art of encaustic painting and has been teaching art for almost 20 years. She offers a professional studio in the heart of beautiful Vancouver, Canada.  Classes are small, for individual attention (8 people maximum), and suitable for new and experienced artists. A full range of artist quality art materials are included and provided in your supplies fee.  Students bring nothing except wooden substrates for painting, or these can be purchased for a nominal fee in class.
