Course Summary

This workshop is suitable for new or experienced encaustic artists.

In this immersive one-day workshop, discover the vibrant possibilities of melting colorful encaustic wax and layering tonal depth and interest into your photographs. Learn to enhance images with story, texture, brushwork and luminous hues as you explore the art of encaustic layering.

This class will guide you through essential techniques for incorporating inkjet or LaserJet prints (from camera or phone images) into encaustic artwork, crafting imaginative and richly colored work. Bring your own photos or choose from a selection provided, and enjoy experimenting with a spectrum of materials in a fun, supportive setting.

By the end of the day, you’ll complete two to three unique encaustic photograph artworks on cradled hardboards.

You’ll learn encaustic fundamentals: studio set up, safety, tools, techniques, materials and more. Suitable for new and experienced artists alike.

Class size is limited to 8 students for personalized attention.

NOTE: Returning encaustic students can register in this class to work independently and receive my one-on-one instruction to learn new techniques of their choice.
