This workshop is suitable for new or experienced encaustic artists.
Explore the translucent beauty of wax-saturated rice papers. Learn to create one-of-a-kind prints using molten coloured waxes and oils on hot and cold printing plates. Explore enticing mark-making tools, stamps, materials, paints and resist techniques. You’ll bring home a variety of magnificent papers bound into a beautiful handmade encaustic book, mounted into paintings, integrated into a lantern, scroll, or luminescent hanging.

Students will complete a stack of encaustic monoprinted papers incorporated into their choice, or combination of, a handmade book, painting, lantern, scroll, or luminescent hanging.
Class size is limited to 8 students for personalized attention.
All supplies provided by instructor, with the exception of cradled wooden panels, to be provided by student or purchased for a nominal fee from instructor.
Light snacks and drinks provided.
Accessibility: Elevator available on weekdays 8 am to 3:30 pm. Weekend students are required to climb two flights of stairs. Please advise instructor if accessibility is a concern.

Registration is confirmed with full payment. Please note fees are refundable up to one month before the class date, but are subject to a $35 CAD administration fee. Cancellations less than one month before class date are non-refundable unless your spot can be filled by a waitlisted student. Non-refundable cancellations by student will be credited and can be applied to another workshop or to purchase artwork.
Classes run 10 AM- 4PM. Class size is limited to 8 students, for personalized attention. A minimum of four students is required to run classes.
All tools and materials provided* except substrate boards.
Shary’s professional studio is fully equipped with all workshop supplies* including: encaustic medium, pigmented waxes, paints, inks, mixed media materials, inks, oil sticks, pastels, photographs, embellishments, tools, equipment, and more, as required.

Students are welcome to bring their favourite personal materials, tools, ephemera, apron, etc.
