In this two-day workshop you’ll learn encaustic basics, building depth, texture, and three-dimensionality in paintings that shine with magical luminosity. Explore colouring, carving, layering, and texturing your encaustic surface with a variety of pigmented oil, wax, and chalk treatments. Learn photo transfer and encaustic fundamentals: studio set up, safety, tools, techniques, materials and more. Delight in experimenting with a tantalizing array of materials and tools to express your inner artist in this fun and supportive environment. Suitable for new and experienced artists alike.
Students will complete two to three 8” x 10” paintings and several sample boards.
NOTE: Returning encaustic students can register in this class to work independently and receive my one-on-one instruction to learn new techniques of their choice.
Class size is limited to 8 students for personalized attention.
All supplies provided by instructor, with the exception of cradled wooden panels, to be provided by student or purchased for a nominal fee from instructor.

Shary’s studio is fully equipped with all workshop supplies*, including: encaustic medium, pigmented waxes, paints, inks, mixed media materials, inks, oil sticks, pastels, photographs, embellishments, tools, equipment, and more, as required.
