SOLD OUT - Intro to Encaustic Photography - Hot Shots

December 14 - 15 10 am - 4 pm (2 day workshop)

Course Summary

Suitable for beginner and experienced artists alike.

Immerse yourself in the evocative, layered, and story-telling possibilities of photographs secreted beneath the dreamy depths of encaustic wax in this two-day workshop.  Explore techniques to print, distress and alter inkjet, LaserJet, fabric- and professionally-printed photos, so they possess the qualities of both photograph and hand-painted fine art. Bathe your photographs and prints in sweet-smelling beeswax, learning encaustic techniques to transfer, colour, fuse, alter, glaze, smooth, texture, highlight and gild images.   Learn encaustic fundamentals: studio set up, safety, tools, techniques, materials and more.

Students will complete two to three 8” x 10” paintings and several sample boards.

NOTE: Returning encaustic students can register in this class to work independently and receive my one-on-one instruction to learn new techniques of their choice.
