Cold Wax Medium on Photo Encaustic: Textured Stories - Feb 28

Explore the 3D possibilities and contrasts that buttery, textured cold wax brings to photos embedded in glassy encaustic wax

Course Summary

This workshop is suitable for beginner to advanced artists.

Explore the varied 3-dimensional possibilities and contrasts that buttery, textured cold wax brings to photographs embedded in glassy encaustic wax. You’ll discover the intriguing interplay between smooth encaustic and richly textured and coloured cold wax. See how a painterly finish brings heightened atmospheric quality to your photographs printed on inkjet or laserjet prints.

In this day-long workshop you’ll explore the exciting possibilities of encaustic and cold wax, using a variety of tools and techniques. Delight in experimenting with a tantalizing array of materials to express your inner photographer in this fun and supportive environment.

Students will complete two to three small encaustic/cold wax photographs on cradled hardboards.

You’ll learn encaustic and cold wax fundamentals: studio set up, safety, tools, techniques, materials and more. Suitable for new and experienced artists alike.
